Gaye Barter, Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher

Gaye is certified as an Iyengar Yoga Teacher at the Intermediate Junior III level. She has been involved in exercise and wellness for over 30 years ago, teaching Iyengar Yoga for the past 18 years. Gaye has travelled five times to India to study with the Iyengar family at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune. She has worked as an Iyengar yoga teacher trainer and now works as an assessor for the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada.

Raenel Leppky, B.I.D., M.Des (Candidate)

Raenel began to study and practice Classical Hatha Yoga in the Iyengar Tradition in 1997, and with the encouragement of her teachers, she began to teach in 1998. She has principally studied and trained under the astute guidance of Val Paape of Yoga North in Winnipeg, with whom she studied directly for four years. She has also studied and trained with other senior Iyengar Yoga teachers including Robin Cantor, Shirley Daventry-French, Ingelise Nherelan, Ramanand Patel, and with Dr. Geeta S. Iyengar. Considering herself to be a life-long student of yoga, Raenel continues her asana training and studies in Yoga Philosophy with Gitte Bechsgaard Ph.D., at Vidya Institute in Toronto.

Raenel is a certified Reflexologist (RAC) and Master Level Reiki Practitioner (Usui System). She holds a Bachelor of Interior Design from Ryerson University, and is a Masters of Design candidate at OCAD University in the Interdisciplinary Masters in Art, Media and Design graduate program.

Valerie Grieco, B.Sc.

Valerie completed her teacher training at Vidya in 2011 and teaches the Kids Yoga classes at Vidya. She has had extensive experience working with children including a one year co-op at the Hospital for Sick Children. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in psychology at the University of Toronto in 2013 and is currently pursuing her Masters in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy at Laurier University.

Rikke Krabbenhoft, M.F.A.

Rikke has been practicing Yoga for more than 7 years and recently completed the teacher training program at Vidya (2012). Along with Valerie Grieco, Rikke is responsible for the Kids program at Vidya Institute.  Her previous experience with children includes working for the Danish Red Cross where she created and oversaw programs for children of refugees. She has also taught music to both adults and children in many different settings and holds a degree in musicology from the University of Copenhagen.

Claire Wicks, MA

Claire holds a Master of Arts in clinical psychology (2015) and completed her foundational training at Vidya Institute (2009) where she continues to study. She is currently completing her PhD in clinical psychology, and has a specific interest in Yoga for mental health disorders, and chronic and acute health conditions.
